Wire Cutter in House of The Locust: Puzzle + Shortcut
Earn the Wire Cutter by seating all three colored cubes on their pads — or try the documented one-cube jump trick. What it opens on the EXIT door.
The normal way: complete the pad puzzle
Your first major objective sends you hunting three colored cubes — red, blue and yellow — spread across different rooms. They cannot simply be picked up and pocketed; you shove them through corridors toward the pad-match room.
Seat each cube on the pad of its own color under the ceiling hatch, and the Wire Cutter descends on its cord. Pick it up and keep it slotted for the finale.
The documented shortcut: one cube and a jump
Two independent write-ups record a faster trick: instead of dragging all three cubes home, bring just one underneath the hanging cutter, climb onto the cube, and interact with the cutter while airborne. The pickup still registers, which lets a run skip most of the opening puzzle.
Sources temper the enthusiasm appropriately: the trick survived several August builds, but a pre-alpha balance pass could remove the mid-air interaction at any time. If the jump stops working on your server, fall back to the full puzzle.
Where the Wire Cutter gets used
The green EXIT door carries two locks. Equip the cutter and interact with the keypad lock on the left — the on-screen prompt confirms WireCutter Needed. After that, switch to the Key for the keyhole on the right, and the double doors slide apart onto the bright white escape corridor.
Order matters: cutter first, then key. Hold both before triggering the endgame sprint so nothing stalls at the door.
