House of The Locust Map: Landmarks of the Nest

The nest ships no fixed map. Navigate by six landmarks instead — from the bird’s-eye spawn overlook to the green EXIT door and the bright corridor beyond.

A house without a map

Community documentation is blunt: the nest is one continuous pre-alpha environment, and locations are recorded as landmarks rather than fixed rooms. Layout details rearrange themselves between updates, which is exactly why nobody publishes a definitive floor plan.

Movement through the wallpapered hallways runs on connection logic — which room leads to which — more than coordinate memory. Build that mental graph while the pressure is low.

Landmark 1 — the spawn overlook

Every run opens with a bird’s-eye view of the whole nest before your character drops into the halls. Treat those opening seconds as the planning beat: identify the green EXIT marker first, then pick an initial push direction away from it.

Landmark 2 — the wallpapered hallways

The maze core. Sound carries unusually well here — heavy footsteps and breathing from The Locust bleed across multiple rooms — so the corridors teach you to navigate by ear as much as by sight.

Landmark 3 — the colored-pad room

Three floor pads in red, blue and yellow sit beneath a ceiling hatch. Seating all three matching cubes releases the Wire Cutter on its cord. This room is your first objective milestone and a natural anchor for mapping everything around it.

Landmarks 4 and 5 — cabinet zones and crawlspaces

Wooden cabinets scatter across halls and side rooms; exactly one holds the run’s Key, and emptied cabinets stay visibly cleared. Low wall openings lead into crawlspace side rooms — useful both for letting chases pass and for reaching awkward pickup angles near The Locust.

Landmark 6 — the green EXIT door

The run ends at a large grey double door beneath a glowing green EXIT sign, two prompts deep: Wire Cutter on the keypad lock, then Key on the keyhole. Success slides the doors onto a blinding white corridor and the YOU ESCAPED CONGRATULATIONS room.
